Commencing his professional soccer journey at the age of 35 with Botswana's Jwaneng Galaxy Team, Batsi not only entered the scene later than most but also played a pivotal role in catapulting Jwaneng Galaxy to the revered Botswana Premier League.
Now, at 41, his remarkable trajectory continues, recently culminating in his recognition as the North West Sportstar of the Year. Hailing from Ipelegeng in Schweizer-Reneke, Batsi's soccer odyssey serves as an inspiring testament to the enduring power of talent, determination and the unwavering pursuit of success against all odds.
The Northwest Sports Star of the Year Award is a prestigious accolade that recognizes outstanding achievements by an individual in the region and Batsi beat strong competition from netballer Elmeré van der Berg, ultra-marathon runner Tete Dijana and athlete Tshepo Tshite. During his four-year stint with Jwaneng Galaxy, Batsi contributed significantly to the team's victories in the Botswana Premier League and the Mascom Cup.
His prowess on the field was also evident as Jwaneng Galaxy contested in the CAF Champions League. In 2021, at the age of 41, Batsi returned to South Africa, joining Orbit College FC. His impact was immediate and profound. Leading the team in the North West ABC Motsepe League Stream A, Batsi guided Orbit College to an impressive victory with only one loss and one draw out of 16 games.
His leadership also guided Orbit College FC to triumph in the provincial playoffs, earning him the well-deserved title of Player of the Season. Not stopping there, he played a pivotal role in Orbit College FC's success in the ABC Motsepe National Playoffs in KwaZulu-Natal, securing the team's promotion to the prestigious Motsepe Foundation Championship (NFD).
The accolades continued to pour in for Batsi as he was voted the Player of the Tournament in the ABC Motsepe National Playoffs. His indomitable spirit and skill also assisted Orbit College FC in achieving a historic feat - winning four consecutive games, making them the first new team in the history of the NFD to accomplish such a remarkable streak.
