Mompati Mall's grand opening in Vryburg is scheduled for October 26

On Thursday, Vryburg is set to witness a transformation in its retail landscape with the opening of Mompati Mall, a shopping destination. This 22 700 square-metre shopping centre, developed by Twin City, not only marks Vryburg's first-ever mall but promises to offer a one-stop shopping, leisure, and entertainment experience that the community eagerly awaits.

Named in honour of the late politician Dr Ruth Mompati, Mompati Mall is poised to welcome shoppers with a diverse mix of 68 retail stores and dining options, complete with a family-friendly food court and an exciting kids' play area. Beyond the promise of an enhanced shopping and leisure experience, the mall will catalyse economic growth by creating more than 750 permanent jobs in the local economy.

The mall's positive economic impact is just the beginning of its contributions. It also improves local infrastructure and supports community growth through transformative projects. These include a significant upgrade to the N18, the road on which Mompati Mall is located. Situated near the CBD, opposite the Vryburg Sports Grounds, and within a short walk of the sizable Huhudi township, this area has been revitalised to enhance traffic flows and safeguard pedestrians.

In addition to road upgrades, the electrical infrastructure along Moffat Street has been modernised to make it more energy-efficient and sustainable. The paving on Voortrekker and Nelson Streets will be replaced with high-quality asphalt, ensuring better road surfaces. Furthermore, the current asbestos water pipeline system has been upgraded to ensure safe and reliable water services.

To support environmental sustainability and reduce the load on the local electricity grid, Mompati Mall will have solar panels installed. The commitment to community welfare extends to several initiatives, including the mall's Early Childhood Development (ECD) programme. This programme, a collaboration between the Twin City Foundation and the Mompati Foundation, aims to provide essential educational support for young children in the community.

Additionally, the mall supports a soccer development programme and a school feeding scheme project, further underlining its dedication to local growth and well-being. Mompati Mall will also promote arts and culture through the Schools Art Competition and by partnering with the Huhudi Art Centre for an art installation.

Johan van Wyk, Development Director of Twin City, expressed the team's dedication to enhancing residents' quality of life and fostering long-term prosperity in Vryburg. He noted that creating "quality retail that contributes positively to communities" is a hallmark of Twin City shopping centres. Embodying this ethos, Mompati Mall is on its way to becoming the heart of Vryburg.

As the first enclosed shopping environment in Vryburg, Mompati Mall is introducing the city's first McDonald's and Spar, exciting additions the community eagerly awaits. The tenant mix has been thoughtfully curated to offer a broad appeal and an exceptional shopping experience. It includes some of South Africa's most beloved brands, such as Shoprite, Mr Price, Truworths, and Wimpy.

Shoppers can also look forward to West Pack Lifestyle, Ackermans, Capitec, Nedbank, FNB, Specsavers, Torga Optical, Exact, Foschini, Identity, Jet, Jet Home, Pep Cell, Pep Home, Sneaker Factory, Totalsports, The Fix, Tekkie Town, Sportscene, Studio 88, Power Fashion, Nando's, Roman's Pizza, and Hungry Lion.

The opening of Mompati Mall promises an exciting array of activities, including live music, promotions, and special offers to celebrate this momentous occasion. In the words of Johan van Wyk, "Mompati Mall is set to become the centre of life in Vryburg, and we're excited to be part of this community investment."
