The first major construction at the resort since 2004 has started with the first phase of an exciting new extension of Sun International's Sun Vacation Club (SVC) at Sun City.
Since developing The Aviary in 2004, the second lodging option added to the Sun Vacation Club, this development marks Sun International's first sizable expansion at Sun City. The Sun Vacation Club at Sun City will have 478 units after the Lefika Villas is completed. The R259 million development consists of 10 four-bedroom villas, 48 three-bedroom villas, and a recreation area with a resort pool, family restaurant, and children's play area.
Lefi¬ka Villas, a term of signifi¬cance that in Setswana means "stone," transforms into luxury in the heart of Sun City. The luxurious offering from Sun Vacation Club is a natural paradise with African tradition as inspiration. Lefi¬ka is home to 58 Villas that have been designed with earthly features and well-deserved luxuries. It is nestled in the breathtaking Pilanesberg within the flagship Sun City Resort.
According to Brett Hoppé, general manager of Sun City Resort, the Lefi¬ka Villas will allow them to have an even greater influence on the area by creating jobs both throughout the building process and once the Villas are operational at the end of 2023. “As part of the development, there will be significant inclusion of surrounding communities in upliftment and skills transfer projects, with a stipulated 30% build value to be allocated to local contractors,” said Hoppé.
Plans and preparations are being made for more and equally spectacular renovations in Sun City. The Palace of The Lost City will have a comprehensive R208 million renovation in November, which will include a spa and a fitness centre.
