Job Shimankane Tabane Hospital in Rustenburg, Bojanala District on Friday, July 14, appointed a paediatric cardiologist, Dr Duduzile Precious Msiza.
Her appointment makes JST Hospital the only public hospital in the North West province to acquire paediatric cardiology services.
Msiza was part of the team that made history in the North West Department of Health on June 27, when the very first percutaneous Aseptal Heart Detect (ASD) was repaired with a team of two other adult cardiac surgeons from JST Hospital.
The appointment of these specialists is a testament that JST Hospital is committed to delivering comprehensive, advanced clinical healthcare services to the community of Bojanala.
Department of Health MEC Madoda Sambatha has congratulated the JST Hospital for the successful appointment of 17 specialists, which aligns with the hospital Management’s strategy to strengthen the medical team across various specialities.

.Ear, Nose and Throat
. Internal Medicine
. Orthopaedics
. Oncology
. Ophthalmology
. Paediatrics
. Psychiatry
. Surgery
. Urology and Radiology.
Making the announcement last week Friday, MEC Sambatha hailed the appointment as a significant milestone in improving the quality of healthcare services and increasing the life expectancy for residents of Bojanala District.
"The acquisition of a paediatric cardiologist will greatly benefit the province as historically, we had to send children to neighbouring provinces for cardiac interventions," Sambatha pointed out.
A Paediatric Cardiologist is a doctor who specializes in diagnosing and treating cardiac-related conditions in children.
Other critical milestones at the JST Hospital include establishing two new departments specialising in Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) and Dermatology services.
These developments make JST the second public hospital in the province to offer Dermatological Services together with Klecksdorp/Tshepong Hospital. Both of these new service offerings will reduce the number of referrals to other facilities.
Authorities say the hospital aims to enhance patient quality of care and improve the overall healthcare outcomes for the population of Bojanala District.
